A meal does not have to come entirely from one kitchen. New Pioneer Co-op’s prepared foods can fill part of the plate while the rest comes from home.
The co-op’s kitchen menu offers several starting points. A shopper might use a listed rotisserie chicken with a side prepared at home, combine red lentil hummus and bread with ingredients already in the kitchen, or choose popcorn tofu as another prepared component. Offerings vary by location and day.
The co-op’s kitchen page lists grab-and-go salads, sides, sandwiches, meal builders, and soup and salad bars beginning at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday at all locations.
The counter service difference matters between stores. Made-to-order sandwiches are available Monday through Saturday at Coralville. The Iowa City location lists made-to-order service as returning soon, so that service should not be assumed there.
Store hours are separate from kitchen hours. The Iowa City store at 22 S. Van Buren Street is open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Coralville store at 1101 Second Street is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
New Pioneer Co-op states that everyone is welcome and membership is optional. Current store details are available at newpi.coop.
