Two dozen gelato flavors are churned on site here, in a building most people walk past thinking groceries. Jim Mondanaro founded the place in 1995, at the corner of Clinton and Burlington, as an affiliate of a restaurant group called Fresh Food Concepts. The later move to Linn Street brought a coffee shop and a new name; Bread Garden Bakery & Cafe became Bread Garden Market. Nine departments now. Wine tastings run Fridays 4 to 7 and Saturdays 1 to 4, and the donuts are made Friday through Sunday only. After the kitchen, though, the counter worth your money is the meat case, which cuts its own Certified Angus Beef, carries Hinterland Farms pork, and takes fish twice a week that is never frozen.
