Oasis Falafel

Sivan's brother asked the question that started it. Why don't you guys open a falafel place? They cut the twentieth-anniversary ribbon in September 2024, and by then the hummus had travelled much further than the counter that makes it. Oasis Street Food, the wholesale arm, makes it without preservatives and sells it through Hy-Vee, Costco, Fareway and Natural Grocers across the Midwest; the wholesale brand owns the Instagram handle, @oasisstreetfood. Both founders still owned the business when the Daily Iowan checked that month, and since 2022 two longtime managers have taken on more of the day-to-day. The kitchen's tell is the Greek Salad, where the house balsamic is cut with tahini; the second order after the Tofu Mangal is the Chicken Kebab Sandwich, on flatbread with hummus and Mediterranean salad.
