About Velvet Coat

Michelle Galvin owns it. The founding year, 2000, comes from the Downtown District's Legacy Business registry, a programme launched in May 2025 that admits only businesses past twenty unbroken years; the company's own "Established 2000" page now returns an error. The August 2026 rail ran Tibi and TWP beside Jamie Haller and Arlo Mott. The landlord since August 2025 is FilmScene, which took the building at foreclosure and promised its tenants a below-market rate. A second Velvet Coat trades at 219 E. Grand Ave. in Des Moines, in the Historic East Village, on hours identical to Iowa City's to the minute — Sunday, noon to four, is the shortest day at both.
